Implementation of Workshop Series - Optimization of Financial Sector

Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Continuous Education Center organized Workshop Series Optimization of Financial Service Sector, which was held on April 27, 2013 at Meridian Course Center and was focused on Stochastic Programming, Portfolio & Risk Management and Robust Investment Decision Making. Participants were coming from different Banks` Departments working in Albania and Kosovo like ALM Officer at Raiffeisen Bank Albania, Specialist/Financial Control, Planning & Reporting Department, Asst. Specialist/Corporate & Commercial Credit Department, Specialist/ Treasury Department, Senior Specialist/Treasury Department, BKT in Albania and Kosovo…etc.

This workshop comprised theory and practical sessions on optimal and robust investment decision making problems arising in the financial services sector. In addition to classical and well-known models such as Markowitz' mean-variance optimization model, the main objective was to present recent developments and new optimization models for a variety of financial problems. In particular, it was focused on modeling and solution approaches for asset allocation, portfolio selection, index tracking, risk management and asset liability management.

Practical sessions based on real case studies aim to illustrate performance of optimal and robust investment strategies were made. In the workshop, the instructors, who all have years of experience in this field, has been taken through all the steps of modeling and solving approaches using Excel and\or Optimization Tools.
